Former New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre will lead Team USA in next year?s World Baseball Classic, according to multiple reports on Twitter.
The United States finished fourth when the tournament was last held in 2009. Japan has won both WBC titles.
Davey Johnson managed Team USA in 2009, while Buck Martinez managed it in the inaugural 2006 WBC.
Torre led the Yankees to four World Series titles while in charge of the team from 1996 to 2007. He then managed the Dodgers from 2008 to 2010. He had previously managed the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.
