Rarely do you find someone that has been at their job for 20 years these days, much less 34 years.

So when I had a moment last week to talk with Steve Hands from Timberlake Cabinetry, I seized it.

Steve is what we call a throw back. He started out sweeping the warehouse and within a year became the warehouse manager at Keller Building Products, a local distributor for Timberlake.

?I did anything they asked of me,? said ?Hands, ?I would unload trucks in the morning and stock shelves in the afternoon and was happy to do it.?

Eventually, Steve became an installer for Timberlake and that was when he knew that he had a passion for cabinetry.

?I have always enjoyed meeting people, so once I was out in the field, I knew that I had found my calling.?

?When you meet with the homeowner and get an idea of what they want as far as color and style of cabinets, then you can design an entire new kitchen,? noted the Tennessee native.

?The look on their face when they see the transformation is priceless. 99% of the time, the customer will look at me and say, ?I can?t believe what you have done with our kitchen!?

?It is rewarding when you see the homeowners are happy,? continued Hands. ?That is why I am still at this job. You can see it in their eyes when they walk into the kitchen. Nothing is more satisfying than a happy customer.?
