A rewarding opportunity exists to join one of Australia?s largest operating charities. The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that has almost 20,000 members and volunteers carrying out good works on behalf of the Society in NSW alone.

The Adolescent and Family Counsellor will provide support and advocacy to children and young people who are at risk of homelessness or first time homelessness. The counsellor will develop early intervention strategies to prevent placement outside the family structure. The counsellor is located at the Bowral refuge and may be required to provide support to young people accessing the refuge.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • A minimum of Diploma in Counselling or relevant Tertiary Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years? experience
  • Commitment to working with and young people and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Children & Young Persons (Care & Protection) Act
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health & Safety Act
  • Competent computer skills
  • Experience in reporting and submission writing
  • Appropriate driver?s license

The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a Pre-employment medical, National Criminal History Record Check, Working with Children Record Check and signature of a Good Character Declaration on commencement is also required.
