i love the kenwood. i haven't messed with the clarion. we quit selling them a few times because they don't sell well at our shop. i think the dim displays on most models was my beef. the kenwoods have a great display, but with certain colors on the display, they get a lot of glare in direct sun. the clarions just fade out in the sun.

i've had the X492, X592, X792, and in my caddy i've had the X994, X995, and I want to get the X996, but my the other's just won't quit. seems silly to upgrade when i'm running a bitone with it anyways, although having the 13band parametric might be nice to tie in with the non-parametric audision eq.

Absolutely cannot stand the display on the CZ702. Total cheesedick.
Take a good hard look at the date in your taskbar -- it's 2012.

I gave a friend my X995, which was somehow flashed with the firmware from the X996, and the crossover settings are fine. Also, HD Radio is pretty cool. Gets my vote (out of the two)

Of all head units mentioned, the CZ702 has the best potential to sound good with right tuning as it has active crossover, parametric EQ, and time alignment. Dual has the least potential as it does not have TA and only three band EQ. The Kenwood.. I already mentioned, they have a quality problem. A lot of folks had issues with the removable face plate. The damn thing also forgets ALL settings if you disconnect battery (BT tuning, radio, colors, time, etc). It's a nightmare to have to dial everything back in. If you want a Kenwood, consider the Kenwood KIV702 as it comes with a non-removable face plate, so it's more durable hopefully. The screen on the Kenwood units looks just fine if you reverse the background and foreground colors, and set color to bright green or bright yellow.
