November 8, 2012?Update
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - A coroner in Southeast Texas has ruled the deaths of a North Carolina doctor and her husband a double suicide.
The Galveston County Daily News reported Thursday that toxicology results found 21 drugs in the body of William Cargile, including muscle relaxers and opiates.
The county medical examiner's office earlier said Dr. Leslie Cargile, who practiced in Black Mountain, N.C., had eight drugs in her system.
Authorities believe the couple left a hotel in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 18 and arrived in Galveston the next day. Their bodies were discovered Aug. 24 in a Galveston hotel room.
Investigators previously said foul play was not suspected in the deaths. Empty physician sample packs of medication were found inside the hotel room.
The physician was 53. Her spouse was 58.
Earlier report
Authorities say they've ruled out foul play in the deaths of a North Carolina doctor and her husband who were found dead in a Texas hotel room.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports Thursday that the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office says 53-year-old Leslie Cargile had at least six different drugs in her system, including powerful prescription painkillers and sedatives.
Authorities say Cargile's husband likely died a day or two before the well-known Black Mountain doctor.
But toxicology reports aren't complete on 58-year-old William Cargile because his body was more decomposed.
The couple had been missing for nearly a week when their bodies were discovered Aug. 24 inside a locked hotel room. Authorities say the couple had said they were going on an anniversary trip and left their cellphones at home.
